Final conference / Programme

During the two-year run time of the project eight partner organisations in seven European countries have developed and tested the training "Digital Literacy 2.0". Towards the end of the project’s run time the project outcomes have been presented on 22 January 2014 in Berlin. Stakeholders and interested parties from politics, commonwealth and welfare were invited to learn more about the training campaigns in the different countries and further possible applications of the training material.

The participation in the conference is free of charge. Participants are invited to take part in an evening activitiy. Firstly it is planned to visit the Reichstag dome at 18:30 o’clock. Secondly a social dinner will be organised at Restaurant Nolle (Georgenstraße, S-Bahn curve 203, 10117 Berlin) (at own costs)

Workshop A - DLit2.0 and special target groups (e. g. homeless people, migrants)

Workshop leader: Aga Khan Foundation, NIACE

DLit2.0 address adult learners in special social situations which isolate them from taking part in social life. Web 2.0 can help to overcome these barriers and support special target groups with getting into contact with other persons or services in order to facilitate their everyday lives. The following questions will be discussed in the workshop:

Which applications can help special target groups to improve their daily lives and raise their social participation?
Which experiences did social institutions / libraries have when promoting the digital literacy of special target groups?
In which contexts can multipliers support the digital literacy of special target groups?

Workshop B - DLit2.0 and senior citizens

Workshop leader: Stiftung Digitale Chancen, Regionalna biblioteka "Pencho Slaveykov"

In each European country participating in the DLit2.0 project senior citizens are among the underrepresented groups when it comes to internetuse. To empower senior citizens to make use of ICT in order to organise their daily lives and participate in society more strongly, web 2.0 learning offers for this target group have to be promoted. The following questions will be discussed in this workshop:

Which applications can help senior citizens to improve their daily lives and raise their social participation?
Which experiences did social institutions / libraries have when promoting the digital literacy of senior citizens?
In which contexts can multipliers support the digital literacy of senior citizens?

Workshop C - DLit2.0 and libraries

Workshop leader: Public Library Cologne, Bibnet (Flemish public libraries), Bibliothèque public d'information Paris

During the project runtime public libraries in Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany and Poland found that there was a huge demand for the participation of staff members in the DLit2.0 train-the-trainer campaign. The workshop will focus on the benefits for libraries and their staff members from implementing the DLit2.0 approach. Furthermore offerswhich librarians can implement in order to reach the target group of socially and educationally disadvantaged adults will be illustrated. The following questions will be discussed in this workshop:

Which are appropriate ways to implement the DLit2.0 approach in public libraries?
Which services concerning the use of web 2.0 applications can libraries provide for socially and educationally disadvantaged adults?
